Total 1,761 patients under treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, June 25: 123 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today while 53 patients under treatment for the same have recovered. Briefing the media, Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan said, “This is the seventh consecutive day when more than 100 new cases are being reported daily in the State. 84 of the newly diagnosed cases are in those who came back from overseas and 33 in those who came from other states. Six are cases of infection through contact.”

24 persons from Palakkad district, 18 in Alappuzha district, 13 each from Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts, 10 each in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts, nine from Kannur district, seven in Kozhikode district, six from Malappuram district, four in Kasargod district, three from Idukki district, and two each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Wayanad districts are those who tested positive for the infection.

The country-wise details of the 84 are Kuwait-39, Saudi Arabia-17, UAE-13, Oman-6, Qatar-3, Nigeria-2, Ghana-1, Bahrain-1, Russia-1 and Moldova-1. The state-wise split-up of the 33 are Delhi-10, Tamil Nadu-8, Maharashtra-7, Karnataka-3, Gujarat-1, Orissa-1, Haryana-1, Bihar-1 and Uttar Pradesh-1. Three persons from Alappuzha district, two in Ernakulam district and one from Thrissur district are those who contracted the disease through contact.

The 53 patients whose test results were negative today are 12 from Malappuram district, nine in Pathanamthitta district, eight from Kasargod district, six in Kozhikode district, five from Palakkad district, three each in Alappuzha and Thrissur districts, two each from Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts and one in Kannur district.

So far 3,726 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala and 1,761 patients are presently undergoing treatment for the disease.

There are currently 1,59,616 people under quarantine in different districts across the state. Of these, 1,57,267 are under home or institutional quarantine and 2,349 are in isolation at hospitals. 344 persons were hospitalised today.

In the last 24 hours, 5,240 samples were tested.  As part of Sentinel Surveillance of high-risk groups, 41,944 samples were collected and 40,302 samples were negative. “The number of tests is being increased gradually. By July, we will be able to conduct 15,000 tests daily”, the CM added.

Today, nine new places in the State were declared as hotspots and five were removed from the list. There are currently 113 hotspots in Kerala.
