Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31: 7,983 new active cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today while 7,330 patients have recovered from the disease. 7,049 people were infected through contact and the source of infection was not traceable for 786. There were 62 healthcare workers among those infected.
Meanwhile, 27 deaths were confirmed today as caused by Covid taking the related death toll to 1,484. The deceased are Somasekharan Pillai (68) from Kollam district, Thomas Joseph (43) from Pathanamthitta district, Soman (56) & Vilasini (75) from Alappuzha district, Kuttappan (55) & M G Soman (63) from Kottayam district; T T Varghese (84), P K Jose (75), Abdul Rahman (82), C V Babu (61), K R Purushothaman (74), Ouseph (80) & Thomas (67) from Ernakulam district; Mohan (57), Chacko (73), Roy P David (72), Chandran (73), Govindan (74) & Pauly Joseph (57) from Thrissur district, Krishnan (49) & V Vijayan (59) from Palakkad district, Aishumma (85) & Ibrahim (63) from Malappuram district; Prabhavathi (47), Balakrishnan (83) & Zubaida (57) from Kozhikode district, and Kochie (82) from Wayanad district.
The numbers of new positive cases district-wise are Ernakulam 1,114, Thrissur 1,112, Kozhikode 834, Thiruvananthapuram 790, Malappuram 769, Kollam 741, Alappuzha 645, Kottayam 584, Palakkad 496, Kannur 337, Pathanamthitta 203, Kasaragod 156, Wayanad 145 and Idukki 57. Of those diagnosed, 86 have travelled to the state from outside.
The figures for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Ernakulam 826, Thrissur 1,104, Kozhikode 797, Thiruvananthapuram 643, Malappuram 719, Kollam 735, Alappuzha 635, Kottayam 580, Palakkad 287, Kannur 248, Pathanamthitta 152, Kasargod 143, Wayanad 139 and Idukki 41.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Kozhikode 14, Kannur 10, Thiruvananthapuram & Malappuram 7 each, Ernakulam & Kasaragod 6 each, Thrissur 4, Pathanamthitta 3, Palakkad 2, and Kollam, Kottayam & Wayanad 1 each.
The district-wise figures of the patients whose test results were negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 562, Kollam 510, Pathanamthitta 259, Alappuzha 571, Kottayam 743, Idukki 279, Ernakulam 853, Thrissur 582, Palakkad 458, Malappuram 994, Kozhikode 789, Wayanad 88, Kannur 480 and Kasaragod 162.
So far, 3,40,324 people have recovered from Covid in Kerala and at present, there are 91,190 patients undergoing treatment for the same.
There are a total of 2,91,440 people under isolation across the state, 2,69,059 at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 22,381 in hospitals. 3,329 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
59,999 samples were tested during the last 24 hours while a total of 46,45,049 samples have so far been sent for testing.
Eight new hotspots were announced today even as 12 areas were excluded. There are 686 hotspots in the State now.
