64,192 sample tests in last 24 hours

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 11: 7,007 new active cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today as 64,192 samples were tested during the last 24 hours (test positivity rate 10.91%). Of the cases detected, 6,152 were caused by local transmission and the contact source of infection was not traceable in 717 cases. There were 52 medical staffers among those infected. At the same time, 7,252 patients have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, 29 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the related death toll in the State to 1,771.

The district-wise figures for those who tested positive for Coronavirus are Ernakulam 977, Thrissur 966, Kozhikode 830, Kollam 679, Kottayam 580, Malappuram 527, Alappuzha 521, Thiruvananthapuram 484, Palakkad 424, Kannur 264, Pathanamthitta 230, Idukki 225, Wayanad 159 and Kasargod 141. Of those diagnosed, 86 have travelled to the State from outside. A total of 52,49,865 samples have so far been sent for testing.

The numbers for those infected through contact from the districts are Ernakulam 684, Thrissur 952, Kozhikode 801, Kollam 664, Kottayam 580, Malappuram 486, Alappuzha 505, Thiruvananthapuram 396, Palakkad 260, Kannur 190, Pathanamthitta 161, Idukki 194, Wayanad 145 and Kasaragod 134.

The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Kozhikode 11, Ernakulam 8; Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur & Kannur 5 each; Palakkad, Malappuram & Wayanad 3 each, Pathanamthitta 2, and Alappuzha & Kasaragod 1 each.

The district-wise numbers of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 704, Kollam 779, Pathanamthitta 174, Alappuzha 716, Kottayam 353, Idukki 91, Ernakulam 758, Thrissur 943, Palakkad 506, Malappuram 661, Kozhikode 836, Wayanad 83, Kannur 501 and Kasargod 147.

At present, there are 78,420 patients undergoing treatment for Covid in the State while a total of 4,22,410 persons have so far recovered from the disease.

There are currently 3,15,246 people under observation across the state – 2,96,212 under home or institutional quarantine and 19,034 in hospitals. 2,028 people were admitted to the hospitals today.

19 new places were demarcated as hotspots today even as 13 areas were excluded. There are 622 hotspots in Kerala now.
