Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 01: 5,375 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today while 6,151 patients have recovered from the same. 4,596 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 617. There were 48 medics or paramedics among those infected. Meanwhile, 26 deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid and the related death toll in the state is now 2,270.
During the last 24 hours, 58,809 samples were tested and the test positivity rate is 9.14%. A total of 63,21,285 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The figures for those who tested positive today in the districts are Malappuram 886, Thrissur 630, Kottayam 585, Kozhikode 516, Ernakulam 504, Thiruvananthapuram 404, Kollam 349, Palakkad 323, Pathanamthitta 283, Alappuzha 279, Kannur 222, Idukki 161, Wayanad 150 and Kasargod 83. 114 of those diagnosed with the disease have travelled to the state from outside.
The district-wise numbers for the people infected through contact are Malappuram 849, Thrissur 610, Kottayam 581, Kozhikode 484, Ernakulam 333, Thiruvananthapuram 241, Kollam 343, Palakkad 190, Pathanamthitta 192, Alappuzha 271, Kannur 186, Idukki 103, Wayanad 137 and Kasaragod 76.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thrissur 12, Ernakulam 8, Thiruvananthapuram & Kollam 4, Kannur 6, Palakkad & Wayanad 3; Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode & Kasaragod 2 each, and Kottayam & Idukki 1 each.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 467, Kollam 543, Pathanamthitta 232, Alappuzha 542, Kottayam 399, Idukki 79, Ernakulam 659, Thrissur 683, Palakkad 493, Malappuram 862, Kozhikode 590, Wayanad 138, Kannur 321 and Kasaragod 143.
At present, there are 61,092 patients undergoing treatment for Coronavirus in Kerala while a total of 5,44,864 people have so far recovered from the disease.
There are currently 3,10,611 people under isolation in various districts of the state – 2,95,494 under home or institutional quarantine and 15,117 in hospitals. A total of 1,494 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
Three places were declared as hotspots today and six areas were excluded. Presently, there are 501 hotspots in the State.
