The high-level meeting convened by the Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to intensify rescue operations in all areas where heavy rains continue. Immediate action will be taken to evacuate people from areas prone to landslides, floods etc. Every possible means will be used to rescue those trapped in the rain-hit areas. The number of camps will be increased and they will meet Covid standards. Masks and sanitizers will be ensured in the camps and particular care will be taken in the case of non-vaccinated people and allied patients. The coastal region should be given alert from time to time.

The National Disaster Response Force is currently providing good assistance and those in need should contact them. Boats should be prepared for rescue operations. The water level monitoring of the dams should be strengthened and alert should be given to those people who are to be evacuated.

Higher education institutions, which were scheduled to open on October 18, will start on October 20 only. The meeting also decided to skip the Sabarimala pilgrimage till19th October.
