Nine fresh cases of Covid-19 infection were reported in the State today. Giving details, the Chief Minister,  Shri Pinarayi Vijayan said that seven new cases are from Kasargod district and one each from Thrissur and Kannur districts. Of the confirmed 295 cases so far, 251 are currently under treatment in various hospitals across Kerala.

14 patients have recovered today including a nurse who got the infection while attending to a coronavirus patient. Five patients from Kannur district, three from Kasargod district, two each from Idukki and Kozhikode districts, and one each from Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts are those who recovered.

In Kottayam, an old couple who had multiple issues and were in serious condition were discharged from the hospital today. “We see this as an achievement and a testimony to our healthcare system. I would like to place on record our appreciation for all the health workers involved in their treatment and care”, he added.

As on today, 1,69,997 persons are under observation – 1,69,291 at home and 706 at hospitals throughout Kerala. 154 persons were admitted to hospitals today. 9,139 samples were sent for testing and 8,126 results were negative.

Out of the 295 confirmed, 206 patients are those who came from abroad, seven foreign nationals (tourists) and 78 who got through primary contact with infected persons. Three persons who returned from the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin are currently under observation.
