Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 05: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that 1,195 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today even as 1,234 patients under treatment have recovered. 971 are cases of local transmission with the source unknown in 79. There are 66 cases among those who arrived from foreign countries and 125 from other states. The CM also offered his condolences on the seven Covid related deaths reported in the State.
Purushothaman (66), Prabhakaran (73) and Marakkar Kutty (70) from Kozhikode district, Asanar Haji (76) from Kasaragod, Abdul Salam (58) from Kollam district, Yashoda (58) from Kannur district and George Devassy (82) from Ernakulam district are the deceased.
The district-wise figures of positive cases 274 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 167 in Malappuram district, 128 from Kasaragod district, 120 in Ernakulam district, 108 from Alappuzha district, 86 in Thrissur district, 61 from Kannur district, 51 in Kottayam district, 41 from Palakkad district, 39 each in Idukki and Kozhikode districts, 37 from Pathanamthitta district, 30 in Kollam district and 14 from Wayanad district.
The details of the cases of infection through contact are 264 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 138 in Malappuram district, 119 in Kasargod district, 91 in Alappuzha district, 83 in Ernakulam district, 54 in Thrissur district, 41 in Kannur district, 38 in Kottayam district, 35 in Kozhikode district, 32 in Idukki district, 24 in Pathanamthitta district, 20 in Palakkad district, 18 in Kollam district and 14 in Wayanad district.
13 healthcare workers were diagnosed with the disease today, four in Kozhikode district, three in Thiruvananthapuram district, two in Ernakulam district, one each in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram and Kannur districts.
12 KSE employees and three 3 KLF employees in Thrissur district, three INHS personnel in Ernakulam District and two DSC personnel in Kannur District are among those infected.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are 528 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 105 in Kasaragod district, 77 from Malappuram district, 72 in Kozhikode district, 60 from Alappuzha district, 58 in Idukki district, 53 from Kannur district, 51 in Thrissur district, 49 from Kollam district, 47 in Kottayam district, 46 from Pathanamthitta district, 40 in Wayanad district, 35 from Ernakulam district and 13 in Palakkad district.
So far, 17,537 people have been cured of Covid and at present, 11,492 patients are undergoing treatment.
1,47,974 persons are under observation in various districts of the state, 1,36,807 under home or institutional quarantine and 11,167 in hospitals. 1,444 people were admitted to the hospital today.
25,096 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 8,84,056 samples have till now been sent for testing and the results of 6,444 samples are yet to come. As part of the Sentinel Surveillance, 1,30,614 samples were collected from priority groups and the results of 1,950 samples are awaited.
Today, 21 new places were declared as hotspots while 15 were excluded from the list. There are currently 515 hotspots in the State.
