Total 56,709 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 27: Covid-19 was confirmed in 7,445 persons in Kerala today while 3,391 patients under treatment for the same have recovered. Of the cases detected today, 6,965 were infected through contact out of which the source of infection was unknown in 561 cases. 62 are those who arrived from overseas and 309 from other states. 97 healthcare workers were among those infected.
In the meantime, 21 recent deaths in the State were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll to 677. The deceased are Sivasankaran Nair (87), Dhanuja (90), Sasidharan Pillai (64), Rajappan (65), Raveendran (73) & Lawrence (37) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Fathima Kunju (80) from Kollam district, Jameela (63) from Alappuzha district, Kochumol (43) from Kottayam district, Shakuntala (67) & Sheikh Akbar (65) from Ernakulam district, Delphi Joy (57) from Thrissur district, Selvan (65) & Venugopal (72) from Palakkad district; Hassan (90), Impichi Thangal (65), Sadanandan (75) & Suhara (85) from Kozhikode district, Azez (60) & Ibrahim (50) from Kannur district, and S H Koya (80) from Kasaragod district.
The district-wise figures for the new active cases are Kozhikode 956, Ernakulam 924, Malappuram 915, Thiruvananthapuram 853, Kollam 690, Thrissur 573, Palakkad 488, Alappuzha 476, Kottayam 426, Kannur 332, Pathanamthitta 263, Kasargod 252, Wayanad 172 and Idukki 125.
The numbers for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Kozhikode 917, Ernakulam 868, Malappuram 888, Thiruvananthapuram 822, Kollam 666, Thrissur 561, Palakkad 464, Alappuzha 426, Kottayam 416, Kannur 283, Pathanamthitta 188, Kasaragod 238, Wayanad 151 and Idukki 77.
The count for the infected healthcare workers district-wise are Thiruvananthapuram 19, Kannur 17, Pathanamthitta 13; Kollam, Ernakulam & Kasaragod 9, Kozhikode 6, Malappuram 5, Wayanad 4, Thrissur 3, Kottayam 2 and Alappuzha 1. There are 12 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district among those infected.
The district-wise count of patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 434, Kollam 269, Pathanamthitta 125, Alappuzha 306, Kottayam 123, Idukki 94, Ernakulam 337, Thrissur 215, Palakkad 206, Malappuram 399, Kozhikode 403, Wayanad 117, Kannur 153 and Kasaragod 210.
1,17,921 people have so far recovered from Covid in Kerala and at present, there are 56,709 patients undergoing treatment for Coronavirus across the State.
A total of 2,27,831 people are currently under observation in various districts, 1,99,061 under home or institutional quarantine and 28,770 in hospitals. 3,752 persons were hospitalised today.
54,493 samples were analysed in the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 27,70,734 samples have been sent for testing, including 2,02,058 samples from priority groups, as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
17 new areas were declared as hotspots today while 14 places were exempted. There are presently 655 hotspots in the state.
