Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 25: 6,491 new active cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today even as 5,770 patients have recovered from the disease. 5,669 were locally transmitted cases and the contact source was not traceable for 663 patients. There were 64 medical personnel among those infected. In the meantime, 26 deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 2,121.

66,042 samples were tested during the last 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 9.83%. A total of 60,18,925 samples have so far been sent for testing.

The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Kozhikode 833, Ernakulam 774, Malappuram 664, Thrissur 652, Alappuzha 546, Kollam 539, Palakkad 463, Thiruvananthapuram 461, Kottayam 450, Pathanamthitta 287, Kannur 242, Wayanad 239, Idukki 238 and Kasaragod 103. Of those diagnosed, 95 have reached the state from outside.

The figures for the people were infected through contact in the districts are Kozhikode 781, Ernakulam 566, Malappuram 628, Thrissur 634, Alappuzha 530, Kollam 536, Palakkad 255, Thiruvananthapuram 363, Kottayam 444, Pathanamthitta 220, Kannur 197, Wayanad 219, Idukki 201 and Kasaragod 95.

The tally for the infected healthcare workers are Ernakulam 16, Kannur 13, Kozhikode 8, Pathanamthitta 7, Thiruvananthapuram 5, Thrissur 3; Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad & Kasaragod 2 each, and Malappuram & Wayanad 1 each.

The district-wise numbers for the patients with negative test results are Thiruvananthapuram 461, Kollam 175, Pathanamthitta 170, Alappuzha 899, Kottayam 436, Idukki 181, Ernakulam 750, Thrissur 631, Palakkad 349, Malappuram 588, Kozhikode 678, Wayanad 71, Kannur 320 and Kasaragod 61.

Till now, 5,11,008 persons have recovered from Covid in the State and there are 65,106 patients still undergoing treatment for the same.

There are currently 3,14,676 people under isolation in various districts of the state – 2,98,616 under home or institutional quarantine and 16,060 in hospitals. 1,853 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.

One place each in Kottayam, Ernakulam and Kollam districts were declared as new hotspots today (total three) while 13 areas have been excluded. There are 546 hotspots in Kerala now.
