Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 11: 4,642 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Kerala today while 4,748 patients have recovered from the disease. 4,029 persons including 44 healthcare workers were infected through contact and the source of infection for 496 was unknown. Meanwhile, 29 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid and the related death toll in the state is now 2,562.
53,508 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 8.68%. So far, a total of 68,61,907 samples have been sent for analysis.
The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Kozhikode 626, Malappuram 619, Kollam 482, Ernakulam 409, Alappuzha 396, Pathanamthitta 379, Kottayam 326, Kannur 286, Thiruvananthapuram 277, Thrissur 272, Palakkad 257, Idukki 155, Wayanad 87 and Kasaragod 71. Of those diagnosed today, 73 have arrived in the state from outside.
The numbers for the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Kozhikode 608, Malappuram 595, Kollam 475, Ernakulam 309, Alappuzha 372, Pathanamthitta 287, Kottayam 291, Kannur 249, Thiruvananthapuram 183, Thrissur 265, Palakkad 117, Idukki 127, Wayanad 81 and Kasaragod 70.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Kannur 10, Pathanamthitta 9, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Ernakulam 5, Kozhikode 4, Kollam 3, Wayanad 2, and Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur &Palakkad 1 each.
The numbers of patients who tested negative today from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 392, Kollam 554, Pathanamthitta 150, Alappuzha 249, Kottayam 243, Idukki 176, Ernakulam 592, Thrissur 500, Palakkad 243, Malappuram 790, Kozhikode 450, Wayanad 149, Kannur 206 and Kasaragod 54.
At present, there are 59,380 patients undergoing treatment for Covid in the State while 5,96,593 people have so far recovered from the disease.
There are a total of 3,15,644 people under observation in various districts of the state – 3,02,102 in isolation under home or institutional quarantine and 13,542 in hospitals. 1,379 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
There are no new hotspots today while one area was excluded. There are 440 hotspots in Kerala now.
