India’s top 12 Primary Health Centres in Kerala as three gets national quality recognition
Thiruvananthapuram, April 10: Minister of Health, Smt K K Shailaja Teacher today announced that three more hospitals in Kerala has received the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification. The new Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Kallikaddu, Thiruvananthapuram with 95% points, the Family Health Centre (FHC) at Kalladikode, Palakkad with 94% and the FHC at Nenmanikara, Thrissur with 93% are the three hospitals which got the NQAS recognition. With this achievement, the top 12 PHCs of the country are in Kerala.In her words of appreciation, the Minister said, “This recognition for our hospitals is a great achievement and a big morale booster for our healthcare workers in the midst of Coronavirus prevention activities.”Recently the FHC at Ottashekharamangalam Pozhanadu, Thiruvananthapuram had bagged the first place with 99% points. Last year, the FHC at Kaiyyur, Kasargod came first with 99%.“So far, 64 healthcare institutions in the State has got NQAS certification and we are awaiting the national level test results for two. Apart from this, another 88 hospitals have finished the State level inspection and are waiting for the national level tests”, the Minister added.At the District level, the W & C Hospital, Kozhikode with 96% points is the topper in the country while at the sub-District level, the Taluk Hospital at Chalakkudy with 98.7% is the first in India. Meanwhile, Kannur has the distinction of becoming the first district in the country to have 12 NQAS certificated institutions.6,500 checkpoints under the eight categories – Service provision, patient rate, inputs, supportive services, clinical services, infection control, quality management and outcome, are assessed for NQAS certification.
