Total 92,161 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 27: 5,457 new active cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today even as 7,015 patients have recovered from the disease. 4,702 were cases of local transmission and the source of infected was not traceable in 607 cases. There were 60 healthcare workers among those infected.
Meanwhile, 24 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll in the State to 1,376. The deceased are Abdul Rahim (80), Sreekumar (60) & Manikandan (42) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Ramachandran (84), Valsala (70) & Haridas (75) from Kollam district, Thankamani (75) from Idukki district; Kamalam Kuttappan (78), T M Shamon (44), Moideen (75) & K K Rajan (63) from Ernakulam district; Kochu (62), Maggie (46), Ramachandran (67, Babu (47), Jamal (56) & Fathima (70) from Thrissur district, Khadeeja (65) from Malappuram district, Yusuf (65) from Malappuram district; Vellan (80) & Kamalakshi Amma (91) from Kozhikode district, Padmanabhan (65) & A P Aisha (71) from Kannur district, and Sameera (36) from Kasargod district.
The numbers for the new positive cases district-wise are Thrissur 730, Ernakulam 716, Malappuram 706, Alappuzha 647, Kozhikode 597, Thiruvananthapuram 413, Kottayam 395, Palakkad 337, Kollam 329, Kannur 258, Pathanamthitta 112, Wayanad 103, Kasaragod 65 and Idukki 49. Of those diagnosed, 88 have travelled to the state outside.
The count of those infected through contact from the districts are Thrissur 717, Ernakulam 521, Malappuram 664, Alappuzha 594, Kozhikode 570, Thiruvananthapuram 288, Kottayam 391, Palakkad 164, Kollam 326, Kannur 198, Pathanamthitta 79, Wayanad 100, Kasaragod 62 and Idukki 28.
The numbers of infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram & Kannur 12 each, Kozhikode 11, Ernakulam 10, Pathanamthitta 5, Thrissur 3; Kollam, Malappuram & Kasaragod 2 each, and Palakkad 1.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 654, Kollam 534, Pathanamthitta 153, Alappuzha 532, Kottayam 236, Idukki 72, Ernakulam 914, Thrissur 1,103, Palakkad 188, Malappuram 993, Kozhikode 947, Wayanad 111, Kannur 368 and Kasaragod 210.
At present, there are 92,161 patients undergoing treatment while a total of 3,09,032 people have been cured of Covid in the State.
There are 2,83,150 people totally under isolation in various districts of the state, 2,61,563 at their homes or at institutional quarantine centres and 21,587 in hospitals. 2,339 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
During the last 24 hours, 46,193 samples were tested and so far, a total of 44,09,750 samples have been sent for testing.
There are 10 new hotspots while four areas were excluded. Presently, there are 688 hotspots in Kerala.
