Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 03: Covid-19 was confirmed in 6,862 persons in Kerala today even as 8,802 patients recovered from the disease. 5,899 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 783. There were 73 medical personnel among those infected. 26 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the related death toll in the State to 1,559.
The district-wise numbers for those who tested positive today for Coronavirus are Thrissur 856, Ernakulam 850, Kozhikode 842, Alappuzha 760, Thiruvananthapuram 654, Kollam 583, Kottayam 507, Malappuram 467, Palakkad 431, Kannur 335, Pathanamthitta 245, Kasaragod 147, Wayanad 118 and Idukki 67. Of those diagnosed, 107 have travelled to the state from outside.
The figures from the districts for those infected through contact are Thrissur 832, Ernakulam 575, Kozhikode 814, Alappuzha 754, Thiruvananthapuram 467, Kollam 574, Kottayam 507, Malappuram 440, Palakkad 221, Kannur 225, Pathanamthitta 168, Kasargod 141, Wayanad 109 and Idukki 42.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram & Ernakulam 20 each, Kannur 11, Thrissur & Kozhikode 5 each, Kasaragod 4, Pathanamthitta 3, Palakkad & Wayanad 2 each and Malappuram 1.
The district-wise tally of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 563, Kollam 721, Pathanamthitta 279, Alappuzha 656, Kottayam 641, Idukki 76, Ernakulam 865, Thrissur 921, Palakkad 1,375, Malappuram 945, Kozhikode 922, Wayanad 83, Kannur 477 and Kasaragod 278.
At present, there are 84,713 patients undergoing treatment for Covid in the state while a total of 3,64,745 people have so far recovered from the disease.
There are 2,96,614 people totally under isolation across the state – 2,75,844 under home or institutional quarantine and 20,770 in hospitals. 2,289 persons were hospitalised today.
61,138 samples were tested during the last 24 hours while a total of 47,89,542 samples have been sent for testing till now.
Four places in Kottayam and Ernakulam districts were demarcated as new hotspots even as nine areas were exempted. There are 652 hotspots in Kerala now.
