Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 07: 7,201 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today while 7,120 patients have recovered from the disease. 6,316 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown for 728. There were 61 medical and paramedical staff among those infected. Meanwhile, 28 Covid related deaths were confirmed today taking the death toll in the State to 1,668.
The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Ernakulam 1,042, Kozhikode 971, Thrissur 864, Thiruvananthapuram 719, Alappuzha 696, Malappuram 642, Kollam 574, Kottayam 500, Palakkad 465, Kannur 266, Pathanamthitta 147, Wayanad 113, Idukki 108 and Kasargod 94. Of those diagnosed with the disease, 96 have come to the State from outside.
The numbers for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Ernakulam 767, Kozhikode 923, Thrissur 840, Thiruvananthapuram 554, Alappuzha 683, Malappuram 606, Kollam 565, Kottayam 497, Palakkad 300, Kannur 187, Pathanamthitta 121, Wayanad 100, Idukki 87 and Kasaragod 86.
The tally of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 19, Kozhikode 8, Thrissur 7, Malappuram 6, Kannur 5, Thiruvananthapuram & Pathanamthitta 4 each, Kasargod 3, Alappuzha 2; and Kollam, Idukki & Palakkad 1 each.
The district-wise numbers of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 761, Kollam 562, Pathanamthitta 196, Alappuzha 549, Kottayam 612, Idukki 100, Ernakulam 1,010, Thrissur 423, Palakkad 286, Malappuram 1,343, Kozhikode 649, Wayanad 106, Kannur 313 and Kasaragod 210.
So far 3,95,624 have recovered from Covid in the State while at present, there are 83,261 patients undergoing treatment for the same.
There are currently 3,07,107 people under observation in various districts of the state – 2,86,322 under home or institutional quarantine and 20,785 in hospitals. 2,445 persons were hospitalised today.
64,051 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as a total of 50,49,635 samples have so far been sent for testing.
14 new hotspots were declared today in Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Kasargod districts even as 38 areas were excluded. Now there are 612 hotspots in Kerala.
