63,983 sample tests in last 24 hours


Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 28: Covid-19 was detected in 6,250 persons in Kerala today. 5,474 people including 56 healthcare workers were infected through contact and the contact source of infection as unknown for 628.  At the same time, 5,275 patients have recovered from the disease today. 25 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll to 2,196.

63,983 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.77%. A total of 61,78,012 samples have so far been sent for testing.

The district-wise numbers for those who tested positive for Coronavirus today are Ernakulam 812, Kozhikode 714, Malappuram 680, Thrissur 647, Kottayam 629, Palakkad 491, Thiruvananthapuram 488, Kollam 458, Kannur 315, Alappuzha 309, Wayanad 251, Idukki 178, Pathanamthitta 141 and Kasargod 137. Of those diagnosed, 92 have arrived in the state from outside.

The figures for the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Ernakulam 602, Kozhikode 665, Malappuram 653, Thrissur 636, Kottayam 623, Palakkad 293, Thiruvananthapuram 375, Kollam 454, Kannur 268, Alappuzha 303, Wayanad 237, Idukki 144, Pathanamthitta 100 and Kasaragod 121.

The count of the infected medical/para-medical personnel from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kannur 9, Kozhikode 8, Kasargod 7, Pathanamthitta 5, Ernakulam & Palakkad 4 each, Thrissur & Malappuram 3 each, and Kollam, Alappuzha & Wayanad 1 each.

The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 365, Kollam 298, Pathanamthitta 146, Alappuzha 231, Kottayam 512, Idukki 110, Ernakulam 451, Thrissur 405, Palakkad 379, Malappuram 766, Kozhikode 1187, Wayanad 145, Kannur 179 and Kasaragod 101.

So far, a total of 5,26,797 people have recovered from Covid in the State even as 64,834 patients are still undergoing treatment for the same.

There are currently 3,12,251 people under observation in various districts of the state – 2,96,223 in isolation at home or institutional quarantine centres and 16,028 in hospitals. 1,701 persons were hospitalised today.

Six places were declared as hotspots today while two areas were excluded. At present, there are 530 hotspots in Kerala.
