Lord of the Ants is directed by the Italian director Gianni Amelio and will be screened under the category of World Cinemas at IFFK. It would be the movie’s first ever Indian screening .

Lord of the Ants, set in Italy in the 1960s, is a biopic of gay Italian author Aldo Braibanti and the complications he had to face due to his sexuality.

Luigi Lo Cascio plays the lead role of Aldo Braibanti, while Leonardo Maltese plays his younger love interest, Ettore Taglifaferri. Elio Germano plays the role of the righteous journalist Ennio Scribani, who fights for the writer’s rights. Aldo Braibanti was jailed in 1968 after a trial that lasted four years due to an anti-gay law from that time.

Lord of the Ants has been screened at many festivals, including the Venice Film Festival this year, and has won four awards.
