Total 116 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, April 24: Kerala today reported the third death in the State due to Covid-19. A four-month-old infant, a native of Malappuram who was undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College died today. The child had multiple cardiac problems by birth and was tested positive for Coronavirus but the parents have tested negative. This was announced by the Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan today while addressing the media.
Meanwhile, three fresh cases were confirmed today, all in Kasargod district and acquired through local transmission.
At the same time, 15 patients undergoing treatment have recovered from Covid-19 in the State today. Five patients in Kasargod district, three each from Pathanamthitta, Malappuram and Kannur districts, and one in Kollam district are those whose test results came negative.
Till date, there are 450 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Kerala and 116 patients are still under treatment across different districts except for Thrissur and Alappuzha. Kannur district has the maximum number of 56 patients followed by 18 in Kasargod district.
21,725 persons are under surveillance in the State with 21,243 persons quarantined at their homes and 482 under isolation in hospitals. 144 people were hospitalised today.
So far, 21,941 samples have been sent for testing and 20,830 samples have tested negative with no infection.
“Restrictions in Red Zones would continue till May 03. The threat of the third phase spread of Coronavirus is still looming on us and we cannot afford to be careless”, the CM added.
