Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan informed that the new academic year was started today with online classes. These classes would be conducted on the Education Department’s Victers TV channel. The classes are will also be streamed on Victer’s Facebook and YouTube channel.

Announcing a programme for students who do not have access to online education with no television or smartphone at home to watch classes, the Chief Minister said “The Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) will sponsor neighbourhood study centres for these children. KSFE will subsidize 75% of the cost of purchasing televisions. 25% of the cost of television and other expenses of setting up the centre must be met by local governments or sponsors. KSFE is coming out with a scheme to purchase laptops through Kudumbasree.”

Around 1.2 lakh laptops, 7,000 projectors and 4,545 television sets purchased as part of the high-tech school project have been sanctioned to be used in such places.

Minister of Health & Social Justice, Smt K K Shailaja; Revenue Minister, Shri E Chandrasekharan, and the new Chief Secretary, Dr Vishwas Mehta IAS, were also present for the briefing.
