Two new hotspots, 13 exempted, total 117

Thiruvananthapuram, June 13: Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja has informed that 85 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. 15 people in Malappuram district, 14 from Kannur district, 12 in Kozhikode district, nine each from Alappuzha and Kasargod district, eight in Palakkad district, seven from Ernakulam district, four each in Idukki and Thrissur district, and one each from Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Wayanad districts are those who tested positive with the infection.

Of the confirmed cases, 53 people have come back from other countries (Kuwait 21, UAE 16, Saudi Arabia 7, Oman 4, Nigeria 3 & Russia 2) and 18 from other states (Maharashtra 6, Tamil Nadu 5, Delhi, 4, Rajasthan 1, West Bengal 1 & Uttar Pradesh 1. Ten are cases of infection through primary contact. They are four each in Malappuram and Kannur districts, and one each from Kozhikode and Idukki districts. Four health workers have also contracted the disease, three in Malappuram district and one from Kozhikode district.

At the same time, the test results of 46 patients who were under treatment for Coronavirus were negative today. 10 patients in Kannur District, nine from Palakkad District, seven in Malappuram District, six from Kasargod District, four in Thiruvananthapuram District, three from Thrissur district, two each in Kottayam and Kozhikode Districts, and one each from Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Wayanad are those who tested negative. So far, 1,045 people have recovered from Covid in the State and 1,342 patients are presently undergoing treatment for the same.

The total number of people under observation across the state is 2,35,418. Of these, 2,33,429 are under surveillance at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 1,989 are in isolation in hospitals. 223 persons were admitted to hospitals today.

In the last 24 hours, 5,170 samples were tested. So far, samples of 1,09,729 individuals have been sent for testing and the results of 3,223 samples are expected. In addition, as part of Sentinel Surveillance, 29,790 samples were collected from high community exposure groups and 27,899 samples were negative. In total, 144,842 samples have been sent for testing. Two new places were declared as hotspots today, both in Kannur district, while 13 have been excluded from the list. Presently, there are 117 hotspots in Kerala.
