Total 1,846 patients under treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, June 26: Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja has informed that 150 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala while 65 patients have recovered from the same.

23 persons from Palakkad district, 21 in Alappuzha district, 18 from Kottayam district, 16 each in Malappuram and Kollam districts, 13 from Kannur district, nine in Ernakulam district, seven each from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, five in Wayanad district, four from Pathanamthitta district and two each in Idukki and Kasaragod districts are those who tested positive with Coronavirus today. Six CISF personnel and three Army DSC canteen staff are among those infected in Kannur district. Two of the infected CISF personnel were on airport duty.

Of those diagnosed today, 91 have come back from foreign countries (Kuwait – 50, Saudi Arabia – 15, UAE – 14, Qatar – 6, Oman – 4, Sri Lanka – 1 & Italy – 1) and 48 have arrived from other states (Maharashtra-15, Delhi-11, Tamil Nadu-10, Haryana-6, Karnataka-2, Uttar Pradesh-1, Telangana-1, Jammu Kashmir-1 & Madhya Pradesh-1).

10 people got infected through contact, five persons in Thiruvananthapuram district, two from Kollam district and one each in Kottayam, Malappuram and Kannur districts. In addition, a health worker in Palakkad district has also been infected.

18 patients in Malappuram district, 15 from Thrissur district, 10 each in Kollam and Kozhikode districts, five from Idukki district, two in Kottayam district and one from Kannur district are those who were under treatment and tested negative today. So far, 2,006 patients have been cured of Covid and 1,846 patients are still in hospitals for treatment.

A total of 1,63,944 people are currently under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,61,547 are under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,397 are isolated at hospitals. 312 persons were hospitalised today.

In the last 24 hours, 5,859 samples were tested. A total of 2,09,456 samples have been sent for testing and out of these, the results of 4,510 samples are expected. 43,032 samples were collected from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers, and those with high social contacts as part of Sentinel Surveillance and 41,569 samples were negative.

Two new places were declared as hotspots today as one was excluded from the list. At present, there are 114 hotspots in Kerala.
