The Chief Minister today announced that triple lockdown has been implemented in Ponnani taluk of Malappuram district from 5 pm till July 6 midnight.“The government has decided to conduct extensive tests in Edappal and Ponnani where a large number of Covid cases have been reported.

All those with symptoms of fever and respiratory problems will be tested. In addition, health workers, hospital staff, bank employees, transport hubs and auto drivers will be tested even if they have no symptoms.

Medical teams from Kozhikode, Manjeri and Thrissur Medical Colleges will be deployed in these areas. They have been instructed to conduct cluster zone tests and house-to-house survey for the next three days. At least 10,000 tests will be conducted in areas where severe infections have been reported”, the CM said.
