Thiruvananthapuram, June 30: Minister of Health, Smt K K Shailaja today informed that 131 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today even as 75 patients who were under treatment for the disease tested negative. Today’s count also includes the test result of a 76 year-old who died in Thiruvananthapuram district on June 27.

32 people from Malappuram district, 26 in Kannur district, 17 from Palakkad district, 12 in Kollam district, 10 from Ernakulam district, nine in Alappuzha district, eight from Kasargod district, five in Thiruvananthapuram district, four each from Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, three in Kottayam district and one from Pathanamthitta district are those who tested positive with the virus.

Of those diagnosed today, 65 were returnees from foreign countries (Kuwait 25, UAE 12, Saudi Arabia 11, Oman 6, Qatar 6, Bahrain 1, Moldova 1, Africa 1, Ethiopia 1 & Kazakhstan) and 46 are those who came back from other states (Tamil Nadu 13, Maharashtra 10, Delhi 5, Uttar Pradesh 5, Karnataka 4, Bihar 2, Rajasthan 2, Haryana 1, Uttarakhand 1, Himachal Pradesh 1, Punjab 1 & Arunachal Pradesh 1).

10 are cases of local transmission, four in Malappuram district, two each from Palakkad and Kasargod districts, and one each in Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts. Nine CISF personnel in Kannur district are also among those infected.

23 patients in Malappuram district, 12 from Thrissur district, seven each in Ernakulam and Palakkad districts, six each from Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam districts, four each in Wayanad and Kasargod districts and two each from Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur districts are those who recovered from Covid.

So far, 2,304 patients have been cured and 2,112 patients are presently undergoing treatment in hospitals.

1,84,657 people are totally under observation across the state, 1,81,876 at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,781 isolated in hospitals. 330 persons were admitted hospitalised today.

  6,076 samples were tested during the last 24 hours in the State. A total of 2,31,570 samples have been sent for testing and out of these, the results of 3,872 samples are awaited. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 47,994 samples were collected from priority groups, such as health workers, guest workers and those who high social contacts, and the 46,346 samples were negative.

19 new places were declared as hotspots today while 10 places were removed from the list. There are 127 hotspots now in Kerala.
