Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 07: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan informed that 1,251 new active Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Kerala with 814 people having recovered from the disease today. 1,061 were contact cases and the source of infection in 73 cases was unknown. 77 have returned from abroad and 94 from other states. 18 healthcare workers were also infected. The Chief Minister also offered his condolences on the five deaths reported in the State.
The deceased are Sajith (40) from Kannur district, Imbichikoya (68) from Malappuram district, Gopakumar (60) from Thiruvananthapuram, PG Baby (60) from Ernakulam district and Sudheer (63) from Alappuzha district. The Covid related death toll in the State is now 102.
The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 289 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 168 in Kasaragod district, 149 from Kozhikode district, 143 in Malappuram district, 123 from Palakkad district, 82 in Ernakulam district, 61 from Alappuzha district, 55 in Wayanad district, 39 from Pathanamthitta district, 37 in Kottayam district, 36 from Kollam district, 33 in Thrissur district, 23 from Idukki district and 13 in Kannur district.
The details of the infection through contact are 281 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 163 in Kasaragod district, 125 in Malappuram district, 121 in Kozhikode district, 73 in Ernakulam district, 67 in Palakkad district, 49 in Wayanad district, 48 in Alappuzha district, 35 in Kottayam district, 28 in Pathanamthitta district, 26 people in Kollam district, 22 in Thrissur district, 14 in Idukki district and nine in Kannur district.
The infected healthcare workers are six in Thiruvananthapuram district, four in Ernakulam district, two in Kannur district, and one each in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts.
The district-wise figures of those who tested negative today are 150 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 123 in Kasaragod district, 71 from Kottayam district, 70 in Alappuzha district, 60 from Thrissur district, 57 in Idukki district, 50 from Pathanamthitta district, 40 in Malappuram district, 36 from Kozhikode district, 34 in Wayanad district, 33 from Palakkad district, 32 in Kollam district and 29 each from Ernakulam and Kannur districts.
A total of 19,151 people have so far recovered from Covid and at present 12,411 patients are under treatment.
1,49,684 people now under surveillance in various districts of the state, 1,38,030 under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 11,654 in hospitals. 1,570 people were admitted to the hospital today.
During the last 24 hours, 27,608 samples were tested. Till now, a total of 9,36,651 samples have been sent for testing and the results of 7,135 samples are yet to come. As part of the Sentinel Surveillance, 1,966 samples were collected from priority groups and 1,906 results are awaited.
11 new places were demarcated as hotspots today while 16 were excluded. There are currently 506 hotspots in the State.
