Quarantine numbers cross 2 Lakh mark

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 06: Covid-19 was confirmed in 3,082 persons in Kerala today according to the Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja. This is the highest single-day count so far. Of those diagnosed today, 2,844 people were infected through contact and the source of infection of 189 was not traceable. 56 of them have come back from foreign countries and 132 from other states. 50 healthcare workers were also infected. Meanwhile, 2,196 patients under treatment for the disease have recovered.

10 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the State to 347. The deceased are Antony (70) from Kollam district; Sudha (58), Kumaradas (68), Manoharan (56) & Omana (66) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Kammukutty (58) & Sauda (58) from Kozhikode district, T P Janardhanan (69) from Kannur district, Aniyan Kunju (61) from Alappuzha district and Befathima (84) from Kasargod district. More deaths will be confirmed after subsequent tests at NIV, Alappuzha.

528 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 324 in Malappuram district, 328 from Kollam district, 281 in Ernakulam district, 264 from Kozhikode district, 221 in Alappuzha district, 218 from Kasaragod district, 200 in Kannur district, 195 from Kottayam district, 169 in Thrissur district, 162 from Palakkad district, 113 in Pathanamthitta district, 40 from Wayanad district and 39 in Idukki district were those who tested positive for Coronavirus today.

The numbers of the locally transmitted cases are 515 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 302 from Kollam district, 297 in Malappuram district, 276 from Ernakulam district, 253 in Kozhikode district, 203 from Kasaragod district, 200 in Alappuzha district, 190 from Kottayam district, 169 in Kannur district, 157 from Thrissur district, 126 in Palakkad district, 94 from Pathanamthitta district, 35 in Wayanad district and 27 from Idukki district.

The infected healthcare workers are 20 in Kannur district, nine in Thiruvananthapuram district, six each in Kollam and Kasargod districts, three in Ernakulam district, two each in Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts, and one each in Malappuram and Palakkad districts.

618 patients from Thiruvananthapuram district, 204 in Kollam district, 88 from Pathanamthitta district, 36 in Alappuzha district, 130 from Kottayam district, 19 in Idukki district, 185 from Ernakulam district, 145 in Thrissur district, 95 from Palakkad district, 202 in Malappuram district, 265 from Kozhikode district, 30 in Wayanad district, 69 from Kannur district and 110 in Kasaragod district tested negative today.

Till now, 64,755 persons have been cured of Covid and presently, there are 22,676 patients in the State undergoing treatment for the same.

A total of 2,00,296 people are under observation across the state, 1,82,789 under home or institutional quarantine and 17,507 in hospitals. 2,410 persons were admitted to the hospital today.

41,392 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 18,72,496 samples have been sent for testing, including 1,83,771 samples from high-risk groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.

There are 23 new hotspots while 20 have been excluded. At present, there are 557 hotspots in Kerala.
