Tests conducted over 45,000, total recoveries cross 70,000 mark
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 09: 3,402 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today according to the Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja. 3,120 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection of 235 was unknown. 46 cases were those who came back from foreign countries and 133, from other states. 88 healthcare workers were also infected At the same time, 2,058 patients under treatment for the same have recovered.
12 recent deaths in the State were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll to 384. Ahmed Rifai (65), Sreejith (21), Neelakanta Sharma (68), Shantha (70), Mohanan (70) & Floramma (76) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Rajan (40), Mariyumma (66), Hasainaar (61) & C A Hasainar (66) from Kasargod district, Devaki (97) from Thrissur district and Lilly (57) from Ernakulam district are the deceased. More deaths will be confirmed after further tests at NIV, Alappuzha.
531 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 362 from Kollam district, 330 in Kozhikode district, 323 from Thrissur district, 276 from Ernakulam district, 270 in Kasaragod district, 251 from Kannur district, 240 from Alappuzha district, 201 in Malappuram district, 196 from Kottayam district, 190 from Pathanamthitta district, 131 in Palakkad district, 77 from Wayanad district and 24 from Idukki district were those who tested positive for Coronavirus today.
The district-wise figures of those infected through contact are 502 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 348 from Kollam district, 315 each in Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, 254 from Ernakulam district, 242 from Kasaragod district, 213 in Alappuzha district, 199 from Kannur district, 191 from Kottayam district, 182 in Malappuram district, 153 from Pathanamthitta district, 113 in Palakkad district, 72 from Wayanad district and 21 in Idukki district.
There were 26 infected healthcare workers in Thiruvananthapuram district, 23 in Kannur district, eight in Kasaragod district, six each in Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts, five in Kozhikode district, four in Kollam district, two in Pathanamthitta district and one each in Alappuzha and Palakkad districts. 15 INHS personnel in Ernakulam District were among those infected by the disease.
The patients who tested negative today are 613 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 323 from Kollam district, 116 in Pathanamthitta district, 83 from Alappuzha district, 91 in Kottayam district, 24 from Idukki district, 105 in Ernakulam district, 145 from Thrissur district, 87 in Palakkad district, 150 from Malappuram district, 88 in Kozhikode district, 25 from Wayanad district, 67 in Kannur district and 141 from Kasaragod district.
Till now, 70,921 people have been cured of Covid in the State and at present, 24,549 patients were undergoing treatment.
A total of 2,02,801 people are under observation in various districts of the state, 1,83,921 under home or institutional quarantine and 18,880 in hospitals. 2,751 people were admitted to the hospital today.
45,949 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 19,78,316 samples have been sent for testing, including 1,85,821 samples from high public exposure groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
23 places in Kerala were declared as hotspots today while 21 were exempted. There are 570 hotspots in the State now.
