Total number of confirmed cases cross 1 lakh mark
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 11: 2,988 new active cases of Covid-19 were detected in Kerala today as per the Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja. She also informed that the total number of confirmed Covid cases in the State is now 1,02,254.
Of the cases diagnosed today, 2,738 people were infected through contact and the contact source of 285 was unknown. 45 of them have come back from foreign countries and 134 from other states. 52 healthcare workers were also infected by Coronavirus. At the same time, 1,326 patients under treatment for the disease have recovered today.
Meanwhile, 14 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll to 410. The deceased are Jyothismati Amma (75), Biju (47) & Nadeera Samad (66) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Basheer (82) from Kozhikode district, C S Joseph (68) & Paul (63) from Ernakulam district, Babu Varghese (66) from Palakkad district, Leela (77) & Job Alexander (83) from Alappuzha district, Unnikammath (71) from Malappuram district, Krishnan (73) from Kannur district and Abubacker (67), Sulaiman (49) & Raman (75) from Thrissur district.
The district-wise numbers for the new positive cases are Thiruvananthapuram 494, Malappuram 390, Kollam 303, Ernakulam 295, Kozhikode 261, Kannur 256, Kottayam 221, Alappuzha 200, Thrissur 184, Palakkad 109, Kasaragod 102, Pathanamthitta 93, Wayanad 52 and Idukki 28.
The district-wise details of the contact cases are Thiruvananthapuram 477, Malappuram 372, Kollam 295, Ernakulam 258, Kozhikode 239, Kannur 225, Kottayam 208, Alappuzha 178, Thrissur 172, Palakkad 99, Kasaragod 97, Pathanamthitta 65, Wayanad 33 and Idukki 20.
The infected healthcare workers are 15 each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur districts, Thrissur district 5, Malappuram district 4; Kollam, Ernakulam & Kasaragod districts 3 each; Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Wayanad districts one each. 16 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district and 3 BCMC employees in Pathanamthitta district were also infected by the disease.
The district-wise count of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 308, Kollam 22, Pathanamthitta 35, Alappuzha 199, Kottayam 89, Idukki 39, Ernakulam 63, Thrissur 105, Palakkad 46, Malappuram 111, Kozhikode 105, Wayanad 15, Kannur 61 and Kasaragod 128.
Currently, 27,877 patients are undergoing treatment while so far, 73,904 have been cured of Covid in the State.
There are a total of 2,03,256 people under observation across the state, 1,81,764 under home or institutional quarantine and 21,492 in hospitals. 2,689 persons were admitted to the hospital today.
35,056 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 20,53,801 samples have so far been sent for testing, including 1,87,392 samples from high exposure groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
Today, 18 new hotspots were declared and 17 were removed from the list. There are 594 hotspots in Kerala now.
