Total 37,488 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 19: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that 4,644 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. 3,781 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection of 498 was unknown. 86 healthcare workers were also infected by Coronavirus. At the same time, 2,862 patients have recovered from the disease. At present, there are 37,488 active cases in the State.
Meanwhile, 18 Covid related deaths were reported taking the death toll to 519. The deceased are Karthayani (67) & Suhara (75) from Palakkad district; Parameswaran (77), Sadanandan (89) & Vasanthayamma (78) from Kollam district; Shaji (47), Thankappan Pillai (87), Sita (94) & Soman (65) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Radhakrishnan (62) & P L John (66) from Ernakulam district; K M Harish Kumar (29), Chinna (74), Lilavati (81) & Amminiamma (89) from Thrissur district, Chandran (60) & Narayani (90), from Kasaragod district and Ravichandran (59) from Nagercoil (TN).
The district-wise figures for the positive cases are Thiruvananthapuram 824, Malappuram 534, Kollam 436, Kozhikode 412, Thrissur and Ernakulam 351 each, Palakkad 349, Alappuzha 348, Kottayam 263, Kannur 222, Pathanamthitta 221, Kasargod 191, Wayanad 95 and Idukki 47. Of those diagnosed today, 36 are returnees from foreign countries and 229, from other states.
The numbers for the contact cases from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 783, Malappuram 517, Kollam & Kozhikode 389 each, Thrissur 342, Palakkad 330, Ernakulam 320, Alappuzha 284, Kottayam 260, Kannur 199, Pathanamthitta 176, Kasaragod 172, Wayanad 87 and Idukki 31.
The count of infected healthcare workers district-wise are Thiruvananthapuram 36, Kannur 12, Kollam six; Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram & Kozhikode five each, Kasargod four and Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad & Wayanad two each. 14 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected.
The district-wise numbers for the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 564, Kollam 243, Pathanamthitta 154, Alappuzha 224, Kottayam 119, Idukki 54, Ernakulam 189, Thrissur 191, Palakkad 130, Malappuram 326, Kozhikode 344, Wayanad 31, Kannur 91 and Kasaragod 202. So far 92,951 people have been cured of Covid in the State.
There are currently 2,17,695 people under observation across the state, 1,92,534 under home or institutional quarantine and 25,161 in hospitals. 3,070 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
47,452 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 23,84,611 samples have been sent for testing, including 1,95,207 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
27 places were demarcated as hotspots today while 11 areas were excluded. There are 630 hotspots in Kerala now.
