Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14: 6,357 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today while 6,793 patients have recovered from the disease. 5,542 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was unknown for 645. There were 63 medical and para-medical personnel among those infected today. At the same time, 26 deaths were confirmed today as caused by Covid taking the related death toll in the State to 1,848.

61,553 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.33%. A total of 54,26,841 samples have so far been sent for testing.

The district-wise numbers for the new positive cases are Ernakulam 860, Thrissur 759, Kozhikode 710, Malappuram 673, Alappuzha 542, Kollam 530, Thiruvananthapuram 468, Palakkad 467, Kottayam 425, Kannur 363, Wayanad 171, Pathanamthitta 143, Kasaragod 139 and Idukki 107. Of those diagnosed today, 107 have arrived in the state from outside.

The count of those infected through contact from the districts are Ernakulam 671, Thrissur 742, Kozhikode 658, Malappuram 636, Alappuzha 515, Kollam 516, Thiruvananthapuram 347, Palakkad 324, Kottayam 421, Kannur 253, Wayanad 155, Pathanamthitta 96, Kasargod 134 and Idukki 74.

The number of infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 12, Kannur 10, Kozhikode 9, Thrissur 8; Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam & Wayanad 4 each, Palakkad 3; Kollam, Idukki, Kottayam & Kasaragod 2 each and Malappuram 1.

The district-wise figures for the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 885, Kollam 693, Pathanamthitta 229, Alappuzha 648, Kottayam 215, Idukki 86, Ernakulam 800, Thrissur 431, Palakkad 484, Malappuram 617, Kozhikode 884, Wayanad 109, Kannur 567 and Kasargod 145.

So far, 4,41,523 persons have recovered from Coronavirus infection in Kerala and at present, there are 76,927 patients undergoing treatment for the same.

There are a total of 3,19,481 people under observation across the state – 3,01,535 under home or institutional quarantine and 17,946 in hospitals. 2,180 persons were hospitalised today.

One place each in Pathanamthitta district and Palakkad districts were declared as hotspots today even as five areas were exempted. Presently, there are 609 hotspots in the State.
