Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 15: Covid-19 was confirmed in 4,581 persons in Kerala today while 6,684 patients have reported recovery from the disease. 3,920 people were infected through contact and the contact source of infection was unknown for 527. There were 49 healthcare workers among those infected. Meanwhile, 21 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Coronavirus infection. The Covid related death toll in the state is now 1,869.
46,126 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.93%. So far, a total of 54,72,967 samples have been sent for testing.
The district-wise figures for the new active cases are Kozhikode 574, Malappuram 558, Alappuzha 496, Ernakulam 489, Thrissur 425, Palakkad 416, Kollam 341, Thiruvananthapuram 314, Kottayam 266, Kannur 203, Pathanamthitta 171, Idukki 165, Wayanad 101 and Kasargod 62. 85 of those diagnosed today have travelled to the state from outside.
The numbers for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Kozhikode 519, Malappuram 530, Alappuzha 486, Ernakulam 361, Thrissur 413, Palakkad 223, Kollam 333, Thiruvananthapuram 238, Kottayam 264, Kannur 142, Pathanamthitta 116, Idukki 141, Wayanad 95 and Kasaragod 59.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 11, Pathanamthitta 9, Thiruvananthapuram & Thrissur 7 each, Kannur 5, Kozhikode 4, Kollam & Wayanad 2 each, and Alappuzha & Kottayam 1 each.
The district-wise numbers for the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 571, Kollam 591, Pathanamthitta 164, Alappuzha 623, Kottayam 470, Idukki 70, Ernakulam 828, Thrissur 892, Palakkad 340, Malappuram 725, Kozhikode 831, Wayanad 126, Kannur 336 and Kasargod 117.
At present, there are 74,802 patients undergoing treatment for Covid while a total of 4,48,207 people have so far recovered from Covid in the State.
There are 3,22,296 people totally under isolation in various districts of the state – 3,04,463 under home or institutional quarantine and 17,833 in hospitals. 1,963 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
10 new hotspots were demarcated today in Malappuram, Palakkad, Idukki, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts even as 13 areas were excluded. Currently, there are 606 hotspots in Kerala.
