Thiruvananthapuram, April 11: Kerala today reported ten fresh cases of Coronavirus infection – seven from Kannur district, two from Kasargod district and one from Kozhikode district. Seven persons have got infected through primary (local) contact and rest three have returned from overseas.

Today, the test results of 19 persons under treatment came as negative. Nine cases from Kasargod district, four in Palakkad, three from Thiruvananthapuram, two from Idukki and one in Thrissur districts are those who have been cured of the infection.

Till date, there have been a total of 373 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Kerala and 228 patients are currently under treatment in hospitals across the State.

Keeping the trend in the last few days, the number of people under observation has come down. As on today, 1,23, 490 persons were under observation in the State, with 1,22,676 at their homes and 814 in hospitals. 201 persons were hospitalised today. So far, 14,163 samples from people with symptoms were sent for testing and the results of 12,818 samples have come negative.

Briefing the media, Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan said, “It is a matter of relief that the numbers are coming down every day and these numbers are giving us a ray of hope during these difficult times. At present, the situation is under control but any lapse on our part would result in things going out of control. There is no scope for complacency and we have to be really cautious about this.”
He also announced that a piece of good news that a Kasargod native who was recently cured of Coronavirus gave birth to a healthy baby at the Kannur Medical College. Both parents had tested positive earlier.
