24 new hotspots, total 495

Thiruvananthapuram, July 30: As per the available lab reports till noon today, 506 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today while 794 patients were cured of the same. Briefing the media, Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan said that since the ICMR web portal was under maintenance, the test results till noon were only published and the remaining results would be made available to the concerned districts. Of the cases detected today, 375 are contact cases and the source of infection in 29 cases is unknown. 31 have come back from abroad and 40 from other states. 37 healthcare workers were also infected.

The Chief Minister also offered his condolences on the deaths of 77-year-old Alikoya from Kozhikode district and 65-year-old Beepathu from Ernakulam district. The Covid related death toll in the State is now 70.

The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 83 from Thrissur district, 70 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 59 from Pathanamthitta district, 55 in Alappuzha district, 42 from Kozhikode district, 39 in Kannur district, 34 from Ernakulam district, 32 in Malappuram district, 29 from Kottayam district, 28 in Kasaragod district, 22 from Kollam district, six in Idukki district, four from Palakkad district and three in Wayanad district.

60 persons in Thiruvananthapuram district, 50 in Pathanamthitta district, 44 in Thrissur district, 41 in Kozhikode district, 39 in Alappuzha district, 30 in Malappuram district, 28 each in Kottayam and Ernakulam districts, 24 in Kasaragod district, 15 in Kollam district, six each in Idukki and Kannur districts and two each in Palakkad and Wayanad districts are those infected through contact.

The infected healthcare workers are 24 in Kannur district, nine in Thiruvananthapuram district, two in Ernakulam district and one each in Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts.

Eight KSE employees and seven KLF employees in Thrissur district, and three DSC personnel in Kannur District were among those infected.

The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative are 220 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 83 in Kollam district, 81 from Pathanamthitta district, 69 in Ernakulam district, 68 from Thrissur district, 57 in Kozhikode district, 49 from Kottayam district, 47 in Kannur district, 36 from Palakkad district, 31 in Idukki district, 20 from Alappuzha district, 17 in Wayanad district, 12 from Malappuram district and four in Kasaragod district.

So far 12,163 people have recovered from Coronavirus and 10,056 patients are still undergoing treatment.

1,44,636 people presently under surveillance in various districts of the state, 1,34,690 under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 9,946 in hospitals. 1,117 persons were admitted to the hospital today.

During the last 24 hours, 21,533 samples were analysed. A total of 7,53,485 samples have till now been sent for testing and the results of 5,529 samples are yet to come. As part of the Sentinel Surveillance, 1,21,115 samples were collected from high-risk groups and the results of 2,228 samples are awaited.

24 new places were designated as hotspots today while 16 were excluded from the list. There are at present 495 hotspots in Kerala.
