Total 30,486 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 14: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that 2,540 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today while 2,110 patients under treatment have recovered from the disease. 2,346 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection of 212 was unknown. 34 of those diagnosed have returned from foreign countries and 73 from other states. 64 healthcare workers were also infected.
15 Covid related deaths were reported in the State taking the death toll to 454. The deceased are George (62), Aisha (60) & Ibrahim (58) from Malappuram district; Gangadharan (65), Kannappan (37) & Thankamani (65) from Palakkad district; Baburajan (56), Sasidharan (65) & Ashokan (60) from Kollam district, P V Paulose (79) from Ernakulam district, Muraleedharan (65) from Kozhikode district; Akshaya (13), Rajan (59) & Sicily (60) from Thiruvananthapuram district and Narayanan Acharya (68) from Kasargod district.
The district-wise numbers of the new positive cases are Malappuram 482, Kozhikode 382, Thiruvananthapuram 332, Ernakulam 255, Kannur 232, Palakkad 175, Thrissur 161, Kollam 142, Kottayam 122, Alappuzha 107, Idukki 58, Kasaragod 56, Wayanad 20 and Pathanamthitta 16.
The count of the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Malappuram 457, Kozhikode 377, Thiruvananthapuram 313, Ernakulam 214, Kannur 192, Palakkad 156, Thrissur 155, Kollam 130, Kottayam 121, Alappuzha 104, Idukki & Kasargod 49 each, Pathanamthitta 15 and Wayanad 14.
The details of the infected healthcare workers district-wise are Kannur 24, Thiruvananthapuram 16, Kollam 6, Ernakulam & Malappuram 5 each, Kasargod 3, Thrissur 2 and Alappuzha, Wayanad & Kozhikode one each. 23 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected by Coronavirus.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 415, Kollam 165, Pathanamthitta 103, Alappuzha 198, Kottayam 121, Idukki 25, Ernakulam 125, Thrissur 140, Palakkad 93, Malappuram 261, Kozhikode 123, Wayanad 76, Kannur 135 and Kasaragod 130.
So far, 79,813 persons have been cured of Covid in the State and at present, 30,486 patients are undergoing treatment.
A total of 2,05,158 people are under observation across the State, 1,82,241 under home or institutional quarantine and 22,917 in isolation at hospitals. 2,213 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
22,279 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 21,52,585 samples have been sent for testing, including 1,89,265 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
17 new places were demarcated as hotspots today while nine were exempted. Currently, there are 615 hotspots in Kerala.
