Total 84,873 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 05: 5,042 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today while 4,640 patients under treatment have recovered from the disease. Of those diagnosed today, 4,338 people were infected through contact and the source of infection in 450 cases was unknown. 110 healthcare workers were among those infected. 29 persons have come back from foreign countries and 102 from other states.
23 recent deaths in the State have been confirmed as due to Covid. The deceased are Alphonse (72) & Sarasamma (72) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Padmanabhan (82) from Kollam district; Fathima Beevi (75), Robert (74), Prabhakaran (69) & Sarangadharan (72) from Alappuzha district, George (86) & Joseph Chacko (63) from Kottayam district; P M Abdul Salam (50), K M Bawa (68), K S Sheela (48), Thevan (71) & Hamsa (74) from Ernakulam district; Muhammad Yusuf (75), Balakrishnan (83) & Aleyamma (67) from Thrissur district, Kunjappa (70) & Muraleedharan (68) from Malappuram district, Raghavan (68) from Kozhikode district, and Kalyani (75), Abdul Majeed (76) & P P Usman (69) from Kannur district. This takes the Covid related deaths in the State to 859.
The district-wise number of positive cases are Ernakulam 705, Thiruvananthapuram 700, Kozhikode 641, Malappuram 606, Kollam 458, Thrissur 425, Kottayam 354, Kannur 339, Palakkad 281, Kasaragod 207, Alappuzha 199, Idukki 71, Wayanad 31 and Pathanamthitta 25.
The count of the contact cases from the districts are Ernakulam 587, Thiruvananthapuram 532, Kozhikode 609, Malappuram 545, Kollam 451, Thrissur 413, Kottayam 348, Kannur 212, Palakkad 188, Kasargod 187, Alappuzha 194, Idukki 36, Wayanad 24 and Pathanamthitta 12.
The infected health workers district-wise are Kannur 35, Ernakulam 19, Thiruvananthapuram 18, Kozhikode 10, Thrissur 6, Kollam & Malappuram 5 each, Pathanamthitta & Palakkad 3 each, Wayanad & Kasaragod 2 each, and Alappuzha & Kottayam 1 each. 13 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected by Coronavirus.
The number of patients who tested negative today from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 910, Kollam 283, Pathanamthitta 102, Alappuzha 387, Kottayam 400, Idukki 61, Ernakulam 236, Thrissur 285, Palakkad 327, Malappuram 757, Kozhikode 507, Wayanad 90, Kannur 130 and Kasaragod 165.
1,49,111 people have so far recovered from Covid in the State and at present, there are 84,873 patients undergoing treatment for the disease.
There are 2,58,446 people totally under observation in various districts of the state, 2,27,942 under home or institutional quarantine and 30,504 in hospitals. 2,964 persons were hospitalised today.
38,696 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 31,98,423 samples have been sent for testing, including 2,08,481 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
Four new places were declared as hotspots today while seven areas were excluded. There are 722 hotspots in Kerala now.
