These centres are part of the STARS scheme, and the prospectus detailing their functioning has been released. A total of 420 batches will begin across the 210 centres, with 25 trainees in each batch. This means 10,500 people will receive job-oriented training in the first phase itself.
Unlike traditional vocational courses, these centres offer training in modern and in-demand sectors. The courses are listed in the National Qualification Register, so participants will receive certificates recognised by the Central Government after completing the training. Each centre has received ₹21.5 lakh for training and equipment, amounting to a total investment of ₹45 crore.
Application forms will be available free of cost at all 210 centres from May 8. You can also download the form from the Samagra Shiksha Kerala website. The last date to submit the completed application along with required documents is May 15. Interviews will be held on May 16 and 17, and classes will begin on May 21.
Training will be held five days a week during school vacations, and later on weekends and holidays. Those who complete the course will get job opportunities through various employment channels, including the Vigyan Kerala scheme.
