Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 27: 3,966 new active cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today while 4,544 patient recoveries were reported. 3,348 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was unknown for 488. There were 49 medical/para-medical staffers among those infected. Meanwhile, 23 deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the related death toll in the State to 2,171.
39,108 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.14%. A total of 61,14,029 samples have been sent for testing till now.
The district-wise numbers for the new positive cases are Malappuram 612, Thrissur 525, Ernakulam 397, Kozhikode 374, Palakkad 351, Kottayam 346, Thiruvananthapuram 262, Alappuzha 236, Kollam 229, Pathanamthitta 159, Idukki 143, Kannur 131, Wayanad 105 and Kasargod 96. Of those diagnosed, 81 have arrived from outside the state.
The count of people infected through contact in the districts are Malappuram 574, Thrissur 507, Ernakulam 261, Kozhikode 340, Palakkad 176, Kottayam 341, Thiruvananthapuram 177, Alappuzha 224, Kollam 219, Pathanamthitta 120, Idukki 121, Kannur 107, Wayanad 98 and Kasaragod 83.
The tally of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Kozhikode 9, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Kollam & Kannur 6 each; Ernakulam, Thrissur & Kasargod 4 each, Palakkad 3, Malappuram 2, and Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki & Wayanad 1 each.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 334, Kollam 378, Pathanamthitta 127, Alappuzha 251, Kottayam 202, Idukki 174, Ernakulam 476, Thrissur 826, Palakkad 228, Malappuram 779, Kozhikode 455, Wayanad 93, Kannur 136 and Kasaragod 85.
At present, there are 63,885 patients undergoing treatment for Covid while so far, a total of 5,21,522 people have recovered from the disease in the State.
There are 3,13,608 people totally under isolation across the state – 2,97,531 under home or institutional quarantine and 16,077 in hospitals. 1,594 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
One place each in Thrissur and Ernakulam districts were declared as new hotspots (total two) while 20 areas were exempted today. There are 527 hotspots in Kerala now.
