Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 10: 4,470 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today along with 4,847 patient recoveries. 3,858 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 498. There were 37 medical staff among those infected. In the meantime, 26 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid and the death toll in the State is now 2,533.
52,769 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 8.47%. So far, a total of 68,08,399 samples have been sent for testing.
The numbers of new positive cases from the districts are Malappuram 700, Kozhikode 578, Ernakulam 555, Thrissur 393, Kottayam 346, Kollam 305, Alappuzha 289, Thiruvananthapuram 282, Palakkad 212, Idukki 200, Pathanamthitta 200, Kannur 186, Wayanad 114 and Kasaragod 110. Today, 77 of those diagnosed with the disease have travelled to the state from outside.
The figures for the people infected through contact in the districts are Malappuram 647, Kozhikode 549, Ernakulam 447, Thrissur 378, Kottayam 321, Kollam 298, Alappuzha 279, Thiruvananthapuram 183, Palakkad 88, Idukki 174, Pathanamthitta 131, Kannur 151, Wayanad 108 and Kasargod 104.
The count for the infected healthcare workers in the districts are Kannur 7, Thiruvananthapuram & Thrissur 6, Ernakulam 4; Kollam, Kozhikode, Wayanad & Kasaragod 3 each, and Kottayam & Idukki 1 each.
The district-wise figures of the patients whose test results were negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 302, Kollam 280, Pathanamthitta 183, Alappuzha 208, Kottayam 312, Idukki 121, Ernakulam 649, Thrissur 638, Palakkad 263, Malappuram 680, Kozhikode 650, Wayanad 115, Kannur 292 and Kasargod 154.
Till now, a total of 5,91,845 people have recovered from Coronavirus infection in the State, while there are 59,517 patients still undergoing treatment for the same.
There are presently 3,16,491 people under isolation in various districts of the state – 3,02,567 under home or institutional quarantine and 13,924 in hospitals. 1,278 persons were hospitalised today.
Two places were declared as new hotspots today even as one area was excluded. At this time, there are 441 hotspots in Kerala.
