The co-director of the Malayalam film Avanovilona, T. Deepesh, has said that public attitude towards transgender people has begun to change. He was speaking at the Meet the Director event on the fifth day of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2022).
He stated that 98 percent of the cast and crew in Avanavilona are transgender people who are highly creative, well-educated and ably employed. Amartya Bhattacharyya, director of Adieu, Godard, and Sourish Dey, director of Bagh, also spoke on the occasion.
