Sukanya G’s ‘Keni: Preserving Indigenous Food Culture’ a vivid representation of the lives and indigenous
food culture of Mullukurumans; a scheduled tribal community of Wayanad is set to be screened at Sree
on Sunday from 9:15 am onwards.
The documentary captures the visual ethnography of Mullukurumans food culture and highlights how it
is bounded with their day to day life. The director, Sukanya G digs out the special connection of
Mullukurumans’ ethnic food culture with their life cycle rituals such as pregnancy, childbirth, marriage
and death.

Produced by the National Institute of Advanced Studies, ‘Keni : Preserving Indigenous Food Culture’ has
won several awards including Best Documentary film in Indi World Film Festival and Best Feature
Documentary and Best Director in Documentary in Casablanca Film Factory Awards.
