The young Costa Rican woman film maker Valentina Maurel is receiving accolades for her Spanish debut movie, ‘I have electric dreams’. The movie boldly deals with a subject matter which nobody discussed before-exploring the passage into adulthood. It is a coming-age-drama exploring the complexities of adulting by unravelling the passage of a teenage girl into adulthood.  The one hour 50 minutes long movie brief the story of Eva, a 16-year-old girl and her atypical relationship with her estranged father. According to critics the film is much more complex than a mere coming-of-age story.

The film has won three awards including Best Director in Locarno Film Festival. It has also bagged the Horizontes award at San Sebastian Film Festival and Golden Peacock at IIFI. It has grabbed more attention in several other festivals as well. The movie will be screened on Day 3 of IFFK for the first time. The show would be at night 8:15 in Ajanta theatre
