Each Able Point will serve as a marketing hub for Khadi products under the Ability Beyond Limits scheme. These outlets will not only provide incentives to micro-units supported by the Khadi Board but also act as dedicated marketplaces for their products. The initiative will also create employment opportunities for the differently-abled, as well as for the mentally challenged, the mentally ill, and their guardians.
Additionally, artisans, weavers, and women-led cottage industries associated with the Khadi Board will gain access to a sustainable market network. Able Point outlets will enhance the visibility and availability of high-quality Khadi products for consumers.
To ensure accessibility, Able Point outlets will be set up on vacant land in high-footfall areas, including district administration centres, local government institutions, district and taluk hospital premises, and properties under the Women, Devaswom, and Tourism Departments. Units will also be established in major tourist centres and prominent places of worship.
These outlets will be designed as stand-alone modular units, making them easy to set up and relocate. The plug-and-play units will range in size from 20×10 feet to 40×10 feet, with integrated electricity and water connections for seamless operation.
The scheme guarantees a minimum monthly salary of ₹15,000 for beneficiaries. The Corporation will invite applications, select eligible candidates, and provide training in customer service, sales strategies, product knowledge, and inventory management in collaboration with government agencies and NGOs. Funding for setting up these units will come from sponsorships by private institutions, NGOs, and individuals.
By cultivating financial independence and confidence among the differently-abled, Able Point will not only improve their quality of life but also contribute to overall social progress. Additionally, the initiative will strengthen the market for Khadi products while ensuring sustainable employment opportunities.
