KSRTC has started a new service called the Rapid Repair Team (RRT) to quickly fix buses that break down on the road. This team helps avoid delays and ensures that passengers don’t have to wait long. If a KSRTC bus breaks down, the driver can call the RRT, and the team will reach the spot quickly. Each mobile repair van has two trained staff members and is available 24 hours a day. In the first phase, 10 mobile vans have been set up in different districts. These vans, provided by Ashok Leyland, carry all the tools and spare parts needed for quick repairs. Cameras have also been installed in the vans, and their locations can be tracked live from the control room.

A special mobile number has been provided to KSRTC employees to contact the Rapid Repair Team (RRT) in case a bus breaks down. Mobile workshop vans have been stationed in Parassala, Kottarakkara, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Bathery, Thiruvananthapuram City, Pathanapuram, Munnar, Thamarassery, and Kasaragod. The service will soon be expanded to other locations as well.

Previously, when a bus broke down, it had to be towed to the depot for repair, and passengers were transferred to other buses. With the introduction of the RRT, this process is changing. Now, in most cases, repairs can be carried out on the spot, allowing passengers to continue their journey in the same bus.

The RRT system, launched by KSRTC to resolve bus faults in real time and ensure uninterrupted travel, marks a remarkable improvement in public transport services. With fully equipped mobile workshop vans and skilled personnel, mid-journey repairs are now possible. This arrangement not only offers passengers a safer and smoother travel experience but also plays a key role in enhancing the overall quality and reliability of KSRTC services.
