Total 39,415 patients under treatment
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 20: Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja has informed that Covid-19 was confirmed in 4,696 people in Kerala today even as 2,751patients have recovered from the same. There are 4,425 cases of local transmission and the contact source of 459 were not traceable. Of those diagnosed today, 44 have come back from foreign countries and 137 from other states. 80 healthcare workers were also infected by the disease.
16 recent deaths in the State were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll to 535. The deceased are Kunjalan (69) from Palakkad district, Baiju (48) & Ali Khan (58) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Ummer Haji (65), Mariumma (82) & Beekutty (60) from Malappuram district, Moitheen Kunhi (68) from Kasargod district, Parameswaran Nair (76) & Omanamma (62) from Thrissur district, Radhamma (50) from Kollam district, Sasi (67) from Ernakulam district and Mariam (69), Babu (52), V T Abraham (90), P K Gopi (71) & Mariamma Thomas (82) from Kottayam district.
The district-wise figures for those who tested positive for Coronavirus today are Thiruvananthapuram 892, Ernakulam 537, Kozhikode 536, Malappuram 483, Kollam 330, Thrissur 322, Palakkad 289, Kottayam 274, Kannur 242, Alappuzha 219, Kasargod 208, Pathanamthitta 190, Wayanad 97 and Idukki 77.
The count for the contact cases from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 859, Ernakulam 499, Kozhikode 522, Malappuram 465, Thrissur 319, Kollam 306, Palakkad 266, Kottayam 262, Kannur 220, Alappuzha 210, Kasaragod 197, Pathanamthitta 153, Wayanad 89 and Idukki 58.
The details of the infected healthcare workers for the various districts are Thiruvananthapuram 29, Kannur 12, Malappuram nine, Pathanamthitta & Ernakulam seven each, Kasaragod six, Kollam four, Thrissur three, Palakkad two and Alappuzha one. 10 INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected.
The district-wise count of patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 478, Kollam 151, Pathanamthitta 89, Alappuzha 202, Kottayam 121, Idukki 65, Ernakulam 289, Thrissur 210, Palakkad 145, Malappuram 388, Kozhikode 240, Wayanad 53, Kannur 157 and Kasaragod 163.
So far, 95,702 persons have recovered from Covid in the State and at present, 39,415 patients are undergoing treatment.
There are a total 2,22,179 people under observation in various districts of the state, 1,96,261 are under home or institutional quarantine and 25,918 in hospitals. 3s154 people were admitted to the hospitals today.
41,630 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 24,27,374 samples have been sent for testing, including 1,95,841 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.
There are 22 new hotspots while 14 places were excluded from the list. Presently, there are 638 hotspots in Kerala.
