The Department of Archaeology has introduced a high-tech digital guided tour system at the Natural History Museum in Thiruvananthapuram. Designed to enhance the visitor experience, the system offers information in four languages – Malayalam, English, Tamil, and Hindi.
The new setup focuses on making the museum more accessible and visitor-friendly. Special wheelchairs have been arranged to help differently-abled visitors explore all the galleries across different floors.
A new mobile app has also been launched as part of this initiative. Visitors can use the 14-inch display tablets provided at the museum to access detailed information about the exhibits. The system includes high-quality earphones for a rich audio experience. Adding to the immersive feel, visitors can also hear natural sounds such as wild animal calls, bird songs, and ocean waves.
With multilingual support, tourists from outside Kerala and abroad can now explore and enjoy the museum with ease. This modern upgrade is expected to raise the profile of the Thiruvananthapuram Natural History Museum at both national and international levels.
