The renowned producer of numerous International Films, Shozo Ichiyama is one of the members of the jury for the International Film Festival. Conversing exclusively to the IFFK media cell, he opened up about his journey as a producer and his thoughts on the Malayam cinema industry.
Talking about the film festival, he highlighted Tokyo Filmex, an independent film festival he formed intending to introduce Asian independent films to the Tokyo audience. He highlighted the parallels saying, “I feel the selection of both film festivals is very similar.”.
“I pay more attention to the subject and the cinematic style than the script”, Shozo Ichiyama revealed as he spoke about his journey as a producer. He also reminisced on the challenges of bringing his movie “Chasuke’s Journey” to the screen saying, “Many unexpected things happened during the shooting, and the worst one was that a big typhoon attacked Okinawa.”
Shozo Ichiyama also revealed his admiration for the Malayalam movie industry as he said, “My current favorite is Jallikattu and Churuli”.
