The 14th International Documentary and Short film festival of Kerala, will flag off at Trivandrum on August 26. The film fiesta organized by the Kerala Chalachitra Academy will be held at KSFDC Kairali, Sree and Nila Theatre. 262 films including, 19 internationally award-winning movies will be screened at the film festival commencing on Friday. Movies will be screened in over 12 categories including; long documentary, short documentary, International short fiction, Malayalam competition films, Homage films, campus films, animation films, and music videos among many others.

The long documentary competition section hosts over 13 movies including; A Home for My Heart, a.k.a., Ladies Only. Movies including; Gopi, Fantasy Parks, My Son and His Grandfather, and New Classroom; are among 18 films that will be a part of the short documentary competition section. The short fiction category carries 24 movies. Malayalam movies ARIKE and Manjadikaalam will be screened along with 7 other animation movies at the fest. Music Videos including December, Dhoop, and Lijin Jose’s Yours Is Not To Reason Why will be screened under the section.

Documentary filmmaker and editor Reena Mohan has been selected for the Lifetime achievement award; her movies including Kamlabai, and Skin Deep among seven others will be a part of the fiesta. Competitions will be held at a national level for the fiction and non-fiction sections and at the state level for the campus movie section.

250 renowned personalities including Reena Mohan, Anjali morderio, Joshy Joseph, Urdu director Danish Renzu, and Bengali filmmaker Somnath Mondal will grace the fiesta.

The Cannes golden-eye winner; A night of Knowing Nothing, the Brazilian director Bruno Ribeiro’s Sunday Morning, Anastasia Veber’s Trap along with 19 internationally acknowledged movies will be screened at the fest. iTales, showcasing five movies shot using iPhone and two movies portraying the Scars of War will also be screened under the fest under special categories.

Alongside the movies, various other programs including meet the director, Face to face, and In-conversation, will give the fest-goers a chance to interact with the eminent filmmakers and discuss the raging issues existing in the field.

The Short film festival will be inaugurated by Cheif minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Minister V.N Vasavan will deliver the Presidential Address .Ministers Antony Raju, V. Sivankutty,and G.R Anil will also be a part of the inaugural ceremony.
