As part of eHealth, an initiative aimed at making healthcare services more efficient and accessible to the public, the Health Department has introduced the M-eHealth (MeHealth) mobile application, allowing patients to book Outpatient (OP) tickets online at government hospitals. Through this app, patients can conveniently book OP tickets using their UHID card number or Aadhaar number, eliminating the need for long queues at hospital reception counters.
The M-eHealth app offers several key features, including the ability to check the availability of doctors on the selected booking day, access to medical history, lab test results, and doctors’ prescriptions, and an online payment facility for OP ticket charges at the time of booking. The app is available across 676 healthcare institutions, including 17 Medical Colleges, 30 Taluk Hospitals, and 499 Primary Health Centers. District-wise service availability includes 108 hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram, 75 in Ernakulam, and 72 in Thrissur.
Additionally, the app supports a QR code scanning and digital token system, where patients can scan the QR code at the healthcare facility to receive a consultation token number. At the time of token generation, all applicable OP charges can be paid online, ensuring a seamless experience. To further enhance efficiency, eHealth-enabled healthcare institutions are being equipped with ePOS machines for billing and payments.
The primary goal of the M-eHealth mobile application is to reduce long waiting queues at OP reception counters in government hospitals and streamline healthcare services. Furthermore, the eHealth portal allows patients to pre-book consultations online, making healthcare access more convenient.
